GPL 2019-20: Velsao SCC stun FC Goa for narrow win

Velsao, for the first time in the season managed to keep a clean-sheet
Velsao Sports and Cultural Club stunned FC Goa 1-0 as they recorded their first win in the Goa Professional League match played at Duler Stadium, Mapusa, on Sunday. After giving away games even after take lead, Velsao, for the first time in the season managed to keep a clean-sheet and record a win over the defending champions FC Goa. Jesloy Moniz scored the lone goal in the 48th minute. Hayden played deep for FC Goa to give added support to their back line and pushed long balls upfront. In the final quarter of first half, FC Goa were gaining momentum as they used their flanks to find the breakthrough. Crossing over in the 47th minute second half substitute Jesloy Moniz who replaced Ronaldo Coelho scored off an unexpected counter. FC Goa were pressing upfront which forced entire Velsao’s side to withdraw.
