Later, Panjim Footballers keeper Preston Rego came with a superb save to deny Phillip who was set up by Marcus.
There was a moment of panic for Sporting Goa when Peter's back pass to Melroy was almost met by Panjim Footballers forward Lloyd Cardozo but Melroy put his body to cover. However the ball was going towards the goal which was cleared off to safety by Alton.
Panjim came with series of attempts in the final quarter but Melroy stood strong under the bar. He first denied Joyson Gauncar who was fed by Lloyd. This should have been a goal but Melroy was at his best. Later the keeper denied Lloyd with a tight angle save.
Sporting who were silent throughout the 45 minutes had a chance to take the lead in the first half additional time when Cajetan set up Stendly in the box with a defence splitting pass. The first half substitute who replaced U-20 Shannon almost scored but his shot narrowly missed the mark.
In the second half, it was all about Sporting Clube de Goa. They first scored in the 48th minute from the penalty spot after Philip was brought down by Janio Fernandes. Cajetan Fernandes, who started for the first time this season, stepped over and coolly converted from the spot.

It should have been 2-0 but the skipper missed a sitter. However, soon he scored making amends to his earlier miss when he was set up in the box by Akeraj Martins from the right flank.
In the additional time Akeraj got on the score sheet when Marcus snatched the ball from the rival defender and played Akeraj ahead and the second half substitute scored to make it 3-0.
Meanwhile at Rosary ground Navelim, Latesh Madrekar and Suraj Handkonkar scored a double each in their 4-0 win over Guardian Angel SC.
