A look at Grand Slam career of Sania Mirza
The iconic Indian tennis star played her last-ever majors recently.
Sani Mirza is a living legend in the sport of tennis and an inspiration for women all over the world. She is also one of the most sensational sportspersons produced by India. A multiple Indian national award winner, Mirza played her last-ever Grand Slam tournament at the Australian Open 2023.
After facing elimination in the second round of Women’s Doubles, Sania Mirza partnered with fellow Indian Rohan Bopanna in the Mixed Doubles category and reached the final. The pair lost in the ultimate fixture and Mirza could not finish her final-ever Grand Slam with a win. As it stands, the 35-year-old is set to retire from the sport after the WTA Dubai Tennis Championships 2023 in February.
Tributes from prominent personalities started pouring in after Mirza retired from Grand Slam tennis and almost grabbed the trophy that she has won previously. She is outrightly the most successful Indian women’s tennis player to ever pick up the tennis racquet if one looks at her track record in Grand Slams.
