The tournament kick-off on January 10 and will continue until 15.

The BWF Malaysia Open is set to be held from January 10-15, 2023 in Malaysia. This will be the first BWF World tour event of the 2023 season and the world’s top players will participate in the week-long tournament. The event had 750 status till the 2022 season but from this year onwards it has been upgraded to the Super 1000 tournament. Victor Axelson will be the top seed in men’s singles and will look to defend his 2022 title. In the women's singles, it was Ratchanok Intanon who won the previous edition.

The tournament will mark PV Sindhu's return from a five-month injury lay-off. Other Indian shuttlers will also want to go a step higher after a highly-successful 2022. The Malaysia Open will be the first BWF World Tour event of the 2023 season.

How many players will participate in Malaysia Open 2023?

A total of 64 players in singles and 86 doubles pairs will be in action in the 66th edition of the Malaysia Open. Viktor Axelsen, Carolina Marin, PV Sindhu, Lakshya Sen, HS Prannoy and Tai Tzu Ying will be some of the top players in action.

Who are the Indian players participating?

They are seven singles players and four doubles pairs from India. PV Sindhu, Saina Nehwal, HS Prannoy, Lakshya Sen, Kidambi Srikanth, Akarshi Kashyap, Malvika Bansod, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy, Chirag Shetty, Dhruv Kapila, MR Arjun, Treesa Jolly, Gayathri Gopichand, Ashwini Bhat K, Shikha Gautam are the players participating in the tournament. India are yet to win a medal at Malaysia Open and will eye their first medal in the 2023 edition.

The BWF Super 1000 tournament will be held at the Axiata Arena inside the KL Sports City in Kuala Lumpur.
