Novak Djokovic vs Daniil Medvedev Preview
Novak Djokovic, the top seed, is set to take on the number three seed Russian Daniil Medvedev in a high-intensity semifinal. The Serb played a limited amount of tennis in the 2022 season but has started the 2023 season on a positive note. Australia has always been a happy hunting country for the Serbian tennis great and he has remained unbeaten since 2018 in singles (taking into account all the tournaments played in Australia).
The top-seed defeated emerging international from Canada Shapovalov in straight sets to reach the semifinals. Earlier Djokovic lost the opening round in the doubles section.
Daniil Medvedev, on the other hand, has had a smooth entry into the semifinals without losing a single game. His first real test will be to defeat the Serbian Novak Djokovic. Medvedev defeated Sonega (7-6,2-1), Kecmenovic (6-0,6-3) and eighth-seed Kachanov (6-3,6-3) en route to the semifinals.

Novak Djokovic will be the favourite to win the match as he has not lost a single match in the singles category since 2018 in Australia. Djokovic ups his game in high-intensity matches and will look to progress to the finals. The last time both these players met was in the ATP Nitto finals which was a marathon encounter with Djokovic emerging victorious. In a similar way, the match can go up to three sets with Djokovic winning (2-1).
