After beating India in the semi-final on Friday, top seeds and defending champions China will face Korea in the Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championships 2023 final. China edged India 3-2 in the semi-final to reach a second successive Asia Mixed Championships final. China will now face Korea, who finished as runners-up in the inaugural edition in 2017. China beat Japan in the 2019 edition final to win their maiden Asia Mixed Team Championships title. While Korea lost to Japan in the final in the first edition of the tournament. China had also reached the semi-final in 2017, where they lost to eventual champions Japan.

Interestingly, both China and Korea were paired in Group A of the Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championships 2023. China topped the group winning each of their three matches, while Korea finished second after losing their clash against China 2-3. They meet again in the final on February 19 (Sunday).

China beat India to reach final

Having seen India fight back from 0-2 down to tie the semi-final clash, China needed their mixed doubles pair of Jiang Zhen Bang and Wei Ya Xin to win their match to progress to the final. And Jiang Zhen Bang/Wei Ya Xin didn't disappoint. They beat Ishaan Bhatnagar/Tanisha Crasto pair in straight sets 21-17, 21-13 to seal the win for China.

Earlier Lei Lan Xi saw off HS Prannoy 21-13, 21-15, while Gao Fang Jie beat World No. 9 PV Sindhu in three sets 21-9, 16-21, 21-18 to hand China a 2-0 lead at the start of the semi-final clash. However, India's doubles pair in both men's and women's sections fought back with close wins to level the tie. China then snatched back the result with a victory in mixed doubles.

Korea beat Thailand to reach second final

Korea also made their second final after seeing off Thailand 3-1 in their semi-final clash of the Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championships 2023. Cho Geonyeop lost his singles meeting in three sets against Sitthikom Thammasin. Apart from that defeat, Korea won all of their next three matches to clinch the semi-final tie and advance to the final.
