The tournament will be held from September 5-11 in Bengaluru.
Both the Koramangala and Sree Kanteerava indoor stadiums are preparing for the big international event of the FIBA U-18 Women’s Asian Basketball Championship. While Division A matches are supposed to be held at Kanteerva Indoor Stadium the Division B will fixtures will take place at Koramangala Indoor Stadium.
To qualify for the FIBA U-19 Women’s Basketball Championship, which will be held in Spain in July of next year. Teams from Divisions A and B will compete in the championship. Division A will consist of teams from India, China, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Chinese Taipei, Australia, and New Zealand. Division B will consist of teams from Hong Kong, Jordan, Malaysia, Maldives, Mongolia, Philippines, and Thailand in the FIBA U-18 women’s Asian Basketball Championship.
The tournament will be a tough ask for India
There is no hiding the fact that India is the lowest-ranked team, at 52, among the eight countries taking part in Division-A. While the top four teams from here will qualify for the FIBA Under-19 World Cup to be held in Madrid. India will hope to finish in the top eight and remain in Division-A.
