Men's Junior Hockey World Cup 2021: India Schedule, Results, & Highlights

Tokyo Olympics medalist Vivek Sagar Prasad is leading the title defence of India in the FIH Men's Junior Hockey World Cup. The tournament is taking place at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneshwar, Odisha on Wednesday. India are the defending champions and only the second team to win multiple titles. The first one being Germany.
Fans are hoping for another title from the Indian junior hockey team. All eyes are on Vivek Sagar Prasad's leadership. The 21-year-old is a bronze medalist in the Tokyo Olympics 2020 and a two-time ‘FIH Young Player of the Year’. The teams in the tournament are divided into four groups Pool A, Pool B, Pool C and Pool D - with four teams each. They will each play three pool matches, with the top two from each pool progressing to the quarter-finals of the tournament.
The first and second-placed teams from Pool A and Pool B will face each other in the last eight. And the third and fourth teams will play each in the classification rounds for their tournament placements. The Indian team is placed in Pool B and will face Poland, Canada and France in the pool stage. Out of all the opponents, France will be India's toughest challenge in the pool stage. They will play them in their opening fixture.
Apart from India the other hockey teams to watch out for are Germany, Belgium, Argentina and the Netherlands.
