Prime Volleyball League 2022: Full schedule, telecast and more

Seven teams will take part in the competition beginning on February 5th on Hyderabad.

The second edition of the Prime Volleyball League comes to us live from February 5th in Hyderabad. The tournament originally known as the Prime Volleyball League have seven teams competing for volleyball supremacy. It begun at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium, which saw ​the home team of Hyderabad Black Hawks taking on the mighty Kochi Blue Spikers in the opening fixture. The tournament consist of a total of 24 matches spread over a course of 23 days. 

Each of the seven franchises – Calicut Heroes, Kochi Blue Spikers, Ahmedabad Defenders, Hyderabad Black Hawks, Chennai Blitz, Bengaluru Torpedoes and Kolkata Thunderbolts – will play a single round-robin before the top four teams in the league stage qualify for the semi-finals. The final of the Prime Volleyball League will be played on 27 February 2022.

Compared to the 2019 season, there will be more matches played in the Prime Volleyball League this time around. The number of teams has also increased from six to seven, with the inclusion of Kolkata Thunderbolts. So, it is bound to be a bigger affair than the last edition. Defending champions Chennai Spartans have been renamed as Chennai Blitz. They will have to keep up their form because they will look to retain their title, while the others will try to snatch away the crown from their grasp.

Stadium

The Prime Volleyball League 2022 will be held at the famous Gachibowli Indoor Stadium, where a number of big sporting events have been organized in the past. Scheduled to be held in Kochi, the Prime Volleyball League was shifted to Hyderabad, owing to the COVID-19 pandemic. The pandemic has also forced the organizes to hold the event behind closed doors, without any spectators.
