World no 1 Novak Djokovic met Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the quarter finals of the French Open in 2012. Both players had qualified into the quarterfinals after playing five setters in their respective games. Novak's opponent was the Italian Andreas Seppi, while Jo had to go through Stan Wawrinka.

Djokovic claimed the first set in dominant fashion but Tsonga fought back. The fifth seed claimed the second and third sets. The fourth set of the match was the most intense of them all. At 6-6 it went to a tiebreaker and played till the last point. However, Novak edged it by winning 8-6 to take it to the final set.

Novak Djokovic faced his 2021 final opponent Stefanos Tsitisipas in the 2020 French Open semifinals. Ironically, the Serbian was playing for a match point on the verge of a straight set finish. However, as luck would have it - he squandered that opportunity.

Djoker's 6-3,6-2, 5-7, 4-6,6-1 victory did not come easy. The surging Greek was always at his heels. But, Djokovic kept his composure and held on in the fifth set. Tsitsipas's fatigue allowed him to manage only a single point in the final set.
