Sania Mirza enters the semi-final at the 2022 Wimbledon

The Indian tennis ace is two steps away from winning all four grand slams in the Mixed Doubles category.
The 2022 edition of the Wimbledon Championships is picking up pace as all the categories are progressing by the day. There were several matches on Monday that kept the temperatures high in London, United Kingdom. A major story is emerging from the Mixed Doubles for Indian fans. Sania Mirza of India with Mate Pavic of Croatia has entered the semi-final. The sixth seeds beat John Peers of Australia and Gabriela Dabrowski of Canada in three sets. The one-hour and 41 minutes-long contest ended 6-4, 3-6, 7-5 in the favour of Mirza and Pavic.
Rafael Nadal also made it into the next round of Wimbledon by beating Botic van de Zandschulp of the Netherlands. The second seed got the better of the opponent in straight sets thanks to a 6-4, 6-2, 7-6 (8-6) score. The Spaniard gave no chance to his opponent who could not win a single set and looked outmatched by the veteran. Nadal will face 11th seed Taylor Fritz in the quarter-final.

In Men’s Singles, controversial yet entertaining Nick Kyrgios continued his journey at the 2022 Wimbledon Championships. The Australian needed five sets to beat Brandon Nakashima of the United States. It took three hours and eleven minutes for the game to finish 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 (7-2), 3-6, 6-2 in the favour of Kyrgios who got the better of Stefanos Tsitsipas in the previous round.
Rafael Nadal’s opponent in the quarter-final, Taylor Fritz made it to the quarters after a comfortable win. The American beat Jason Kubler of Australia by 6-3, 6-1, 6-4 to enter the next round.
Nick Kyrgios’ opponent in the next round is Cristian Garin of Chile. He had to endure a five-setter against Alex de Minaur to reach the quarter-final. In the end, the unseeded Chilean triumphed over the 19th seed thanks to a 2-6, 5-7, 7-6 (7-3), 6-4, 7-6 (10-6) score. The incredible comeback win after going down to two sets will give Garin a huge confidence boost going into the next round.
A major upset was in Women’s Singles saw former Wimbledon champion Simona Halep beat higher seed Paula Badosa in straight sets. The 16th seed defeated the fourth seed by 6-1, 6-2 in an hour to make it into the quarter-final of the bracket.
Doubles Action
Jamie Murray’s journey at the 2022 Wimbledon came to an end after he and his partner lost their Men’s Doubles tie. He was partnering with Bruno Soares of Brazil and the pair lost the third-round tie to face elimination. John Peers of Australia and Filip Polasek of Slovakia emerged 7-6 (7-5), 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 winners on the day.
Fourth seeds in the Women’s Doubles Lyudmyla Kichenok of Ukraine and Jelena Ostapenko of Latvia broke the hearts of the home fans by beating their opponents from the United Kingdom to march into the next round. The pair beat Harriet Dart and Heather Watson of the UK by a 5-7, 6-4, 6-2 score.
