Chess is a game with rich history and it is one of the most competitive games of all time as well. In chess the, biggest title a person can achieve is the title of Grandmaster. The title Grandmaster is the one every professional chess player dream of. It is an award that one achieved cannot be taken back until the player is found guilty of cheating and corruption. 

A player who wants to become a Grandmaster must first reach the FIDE rating of 2500. After receiving the 2500 points the player is awarded the title. However, today we are going to take a look at the top 5 youngest Chess Grandmasters of all time.

5. Praggnanandhaa Rameshbabu

Praggnanandhaa Rameshbabu is an Indian chess prodigy and Grandmaster. He became Grandmaster at the age of 12 years 10 months and 13 days. Moreover, at the age of 10 years 10 months and 19 days, he became the youngest International Master. He became a chess sensation when he defeated Magnus Carlsen two times. Praggnanandhaa Rameshbabu is a chess prodigy who has won multiple awards and honours. Currently, the FIDE rating of Rameshbabu is 2690 which is his all-time best. Moreover, his current ranking of 46 is also his best ranking to date. 

Born on August 10, 2005, Praggnanandhaa Rameshbabu is one of the most exciting chess prodigies and his performance in all the recent championships against the best is evidence of it. He is one of the best upcoming prodigies from India who looks destined to achieve great things. 

4. Javokhir Sindarov

Javokhir Sindarov hails from Uzbekistan and became Grandmaster in October 2018 at the age of 12 years 10 months and 5 days. Sindarov who was born on 8 December 2005 received the International Master title in October 2017. 

The Alekhine Memorial was his first Grandmaster norm after which he won the World Junior Chess Championship and the First Saturday tournament to get the title of Grandmaster. In 2021 Sindarov qualified for the Chess World Cup. In the World Cup, he caused a major upset by defeating 8th-ranked Alireza Firouzja. Currently, Javokhir Sindarov is ranked 82 and his FIDE rating is 2661. This chess prodigy is certainly going to be one of the best players in the future for sure. 

3. Gukesh Dommaraju

Gukesh Dommaraju is an Indian chess prodigy. He is the third youngest to receive the title of Grandmaster which he received in 2019. Gukesh won the U-9 Asian School Chess Championship in 2015. Moreover, in 2018 he won the World Youth Chess Championship. In 2018 he was awarded the title of International Master after his performance in Cappella -la-Ganda Open. 

Gukesh Dommaraju was born on 29 May 2006. Back in 2019 when he become the Grandmaster by 17 days he missed the first spot to become the young chess master. Gukesh becomes Grandmaster at the age of 12 years, 7 months and 17 days. However, in 2022 he come the youngest player to defeat World Championship Magnus Carlsen. Gukesh Dommaraju has a current FIDE rating of 2718 with his highest being 2732. Moreover, his current ranking is 29 with his best rating being 18. 

2. Sergey Karjakin

Sergey Karjakin is a Russian Grandmaster who previously represented Ukraine till 2009. He become the youngest Grandmaster in 2003 until Abhimanyu Mishra broke his record. Karjakin was 12 years, and 7 months when he was awarded the title of Grandmaster. He won the European U-10 Chess Championship and the World U-12 Chess Championship in 1999 and 2001 respectively. 

Sergey Karjakin represented Ukraine in Chess Olympiads and Corous Chess tournament till 2009. FromIn0 he started representing Russia and won the team gold in the 2013 and 2019 World Team Chess Championships. The current FIDE rating of Karjakin is 2747 with his best being 2788. Moreover, his current ranking is 10 but his best rating was 4 in 2011. 

1. Abhimanyu Mishra

Abhimanyu Mishra is currently the youngest person to become the Chess Grandmaster. He has rewarded the title of Grandmaster on June 30 2021 at the age of 12 years, 4 months and 25 days. Mishra is an American chess prodigy was previously broke the United States Chess Federation record for the youngest chess expert. Later on at the age of 9 years, 2 months 17 days, he become the youngest National master of United States Chess Federation. Moreover, in February 2020 he become the youngest International Master as well breaking the record of Praggnanandhaa Rameshbabu. 

In June 2021 Abhimanyu Mishra got third Grandmaster norm at the Vezerkepzo GM Mix tournament in Budapest, Hungary. The current FIDE rating of Mishra is 2548. He is someone we should keep an eye on as he becomes one of the best chess players in future.
