Indian Sports Calendar in 2023: Major events to look forward to in July
The Indian men's hockey team will be back in action after a month.
The month of July promises to be a busy affair for Indian sports with several major events lined up in this month in the Indian sports calendar. The BWF tour sets off to North America for the first two weeks and then makes an re entry to Asia for the next two weeks. Other major events in July is the Asian Athletics Championships where top athletes from India are set to take part and the ranking points here get added to qualification for Budapest World Championships.
Archery
After three World Cup stages, the action shifts to World Championships which is set to be held in Germany. The event will serve as a qualification event for the Paris Summer Olympics 2024.

Athletics
The Asian Athletics Championships is set to be held in Bangkok from July 12-16. The continental championships is a pre cursor tournament for the World Championships and the Asian Games. A total of 54 Indian athletes have been selected by AFI (Athletics Federation of India) for Asian Championships. Avinash Sable and Praveen Chithravel will be participating in Stockholm and Monaco Diamond League respectively.
The Olympic qualification cycle is also set to start from July 1st 2023.

Aquatics
Swimming, Water Polo, Diving are set to feature in the World Aquatics Championships set to be held in Japan. Tokyo Olympian Srihari Natraj will lead the Indian contingent at the competition.

Badminton
After a week's break post the Chinese Taipei Open the BWF action shits to North America (Canada and the USA) and then makes a re entry into Asia (Korea and Japan).

Breaking
Six Indian break dancers (men's - three and women's - three) are set to take part in the Asian Championships set to be held in China.

Cricket
The Indian men's cricket team will resume their preparation for the ICC ODI Cricket World Cup 2023 at home with a tour of West Indies. The full-fledged bilateral series will start with a two-match Test series followed by a three-match ODI and five-match T20I series respectively. This will be India's final bilateral series before the ODI Cricket World Cup at home in October.
The Women's team is also set to tour Bangladesh for a white-ball series. The Women in Blue will play three-match T20I and ODI series respectively starting July 9.

Fencing
Bhavani Devi created history last month by becoming the first Indian fencer to win bronze at the Asian Championships. She rose to career high WR 28 and shall look to continue the heroics at the World level.

The Indian team went for a much needed rest post the Pro League campaign and have now arrived for the national camp ahead of Spain tour and Asian Champions Trophy to be held in August.

Shooting
- July 10-16: ISSF Shot Gun World Cup, Italy
Table Tennis
The Indian table tennis contingent had a great outing at the African leg defeating top rung players. They will play the WTT Star Contender Ljubljana in the first week of July and will the head to India to play in UTT.

Tennis
The third grand slam of the year is set to begin on July 3rd. Rohan Bopanna is the lone Indian to feature in the main draw in the men's doubles (till date). Yuki Bhambri and Saketh Myneni are placed in the alternates list and might get a late entry into the main draw. Ankita Raina lost in the opening round of the qualifiers in women's singles.

Weightlifting
India is set to host two weightlifting competitions in both the senior and junior categories respectively.

Wrestling
Olympian Vinesh Phogat will be the lone Indian to take part in the Budapest Ranking Series. She is set to make a comeback after a span of 10 months.
