Two athletes will represent India at the Winter Olympics, marking the nation’s 12th appearance.
The Winter Olympics 2026 is all set to commence on February 6 and conclude on February 22. Over the period, 16 events spotlighting 116 medals shall be conducted across Milan, Italy.
Alpine skiing, Biathlon, Bobsleigh, Cross-country skiing, Curling, Figure skating, Freestyle skiing, Ice hockey, Luge, Nordic combined, Short-track speed skating, Skeleton, Ski jumping, Ski mountaineering, Snowboarding, Speed skating are the sports that shall be played in the Winter Olympics 2026.
In the previous edition of the trophy held in Beijing, China, Norway swept 37 medals holding 16 gold, 8 silver, and 13 bronze.
Meanwhile, India had witnessed just one participant in Arif Khan as their alpine skier, he eventually hadn’t won the medal leaving India with no medals.
Jagadish Singh, Shiva Keshavan, Himanshu Thakur, Nadeem Iqbal, Jamyang Namgial, Tashi Lundup, Neha Ahuja, Hira Lal, Bahadur Gupta are the players that participated in the previous editions of the Winter Olympics. India have never won a medal in Winter Games.
The Olympic Games will be provided through four main clusters of venues. Milan (Milano) will be the host of the Opening Ceremony and will feature events in figure skating, speed skating, and ice hockey.
The Valtellina area, including Livigno and Stelvio, will host freestyle skiing, snowboarding, ski mountaineering, and men’s alpine skiing events. Cortina d’Ampezzo and Anterselva will host women’s alpine skiing, curling, bobsleigh, luge, skeleton, and biathlon. Val di Fiemme, including Predazzo and Tesero, will host ski jumping and cross-country skiing.
This year promises to be a convincing start with two players joining the arena. Arif Khan featuring in Alpine Skiing, and Stanzin Lundup for Cross-Country Skiing.
The events shall begin on February 7, while the event for Alpine Skiing Men’s Slalom shall begin on Monday, February 16, and the Cross-Country Skiing – Men’s 10km freestyle shall firework on Friday, February 13.
