Team USA holds the record of most medals won in a single edition of the Summer Olympics with 231.
Team USA has been breaking records and winning medals at the Olympics since 1896. They have won more than 100 medals at a single edition of the Olympics on 11 occasions.
They are currently on their best medal winning streak as the last five editions have seen them win 100 plus medals. During the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics, Team USA won 83 gold medals and finished with an overall 174 medals.
In the 1904 St. Louis Olympics, USA won a record 231 medals with 76 gold, 78 silver and 77 bronze medals. They have been topping the medal tally since the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. Paris Olympics 2024 could become their eighth consecutive top finish in the medal tally.
There are only a few sporting disciplines where the USA has never won a medal. Badminton, handball, rhythmic gymnastics, table tennis and trampoline gymnastics are the ones where an American athlete is yet to reach the podium.
Athletics, Swimming and Shooting have been where the American athletes have been most successful. Athletics has received 344 gold medals, while Swimming has 257 podium finishes. In third are the shooters with 57 gold medals.
