AFI name Indian athletics contingent for Paris Olympics 2024

28 Indian athletes are set to take part in Paris Olympics 2024.

The Athletics Federation of India has released the list of the Indian track and field contingent for Paris Olympics 2024. A total of 28 athletes will be representing the nation at the end of the month in Paris. The list includes 17 men and 11 women athletes. 

AFI has also included the 4x400m mixed relay runners in the contingent. The mixed relay runners had shattered their own record at the recently concluded 63rd Inter-state Athletics Championships at Haryana. They will hope to leave a mark on the track next month.

The Indian contingent will be led by Neeraj Chopra. The defending Olympic champion in Javelin Throw is currently resting. He will not be competing at the Paris Diamond League and will be next seen during the Olympic showdown.

The Athletic events at Paris Olympics 2024 will start from August 1st and will go on till 11th. The countdown has already begun for the Indian athletes as most of them are taking rest after competing in Haryana. 

There were few athletes who delivered impressive performances last week. Abdulla Aboobacker and Kiran Pahal were awarded the best athletes at the 63rd Inter-state Athletics Championships.

The Athletics Federation of India will be counting on them to deliver their best at the Stad De France stadium. Meanwhile, Parul Chaudhary and Priyanka Goswami will be the only athletes who will participate in multiple events. 

Choudhary will be seen in the women’s 3,000m steeplechase and 5,00m. On the other hand, Goswami will be seen during the women’s 20km race walk and mixed marathon.

Men: Avinash Sable (3,000m steeplechase), Neeraj Chopra, Kishore Kumar Jena (javelin throw), Tajinderpal Singh Toor (shot put), Praveen Chithravel, Abdulla Aboobacker (triple jump), Sarvesh Kushare (high jump), Akshdeep Singh, Vikash Singh, Paramjeet Singh Bisht (20km race walk), Muhammed Anas, Muhammed Ajmal, Amoj Jacob, Santhosh Tamilarasan, Rajesh Ramesh, Mijo Chacko Kurian (4x400m relay), Suraj Panwar (race walk mixed marathon)

Women: Kiran Pahal (400m), Parul Chaudhary (3,000m steeplechase and 5,000m), Jyothi Yarraji (100m hurdles), Annu Rani (javelin throw), Abha Khatua (shot put), Jyothika Sri Dandi, Subha Venkatesan, Vithya Ramraj, Poovamma MR, Prachi (4x400m relay), Priyanka Goswami (20km race walk/ race walk mixed marathon).
