Manu Bhaker named India's flagbearer for Paris Olympics 2024 closing ceremony; shooter expresses delight

The 22-year-old will be leading the Indian contingent at the closing ceremony of Paris Olympics 2024.
Manu Bhaker has been the star Indian athlete at Paris Olympics 2024. She has been carrying India’s hopes from day one at Paris and will now be the flag bearer during the closing ceremony. Bhaker made sure the nation had a record-breaking start at Paris Olympics 2024.
During the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, men’s wrestling freestyle 65 kg bronze medallist Bajrang Punia was the flag bearer during the closing ceremony. The Indian flag bearers during the opening ceremony at Paris this time were shuttler PV Sindhu and Paddler Achanta Sharath Kamal.
Bhaker has expressed gratitude to the Indian Olympic Association. She said, “Leading the outstanding Indian contingent with the tricolour in my hands with millions around the world watching is a truly humbling opportunity and one that I will cherish forever. She also praised the Indian contingent at Paris.”
Since the start of Paris Olympics 2024, the Indian shooting contingent has been making the nation proud with their performances. They have been in great form at Paris and are still contesting for medals. The shooting contingent was led by Manu Bhaker who competed in three events. She went on to win two bronze medals and finished fourth in the third event.

The two-time Olympic medallist not only ended a shooting medal drought but also became the first Indian since independence to win multiple medals in a single edition of the Olympics.
Manu Bhaker’s performances created history for the nation at Paris Olympics 2024. She made sure to set new benchmarks for India at the Chateauroux Shooting Centre. Bhaker was competing in her second Olympics at Paris. The 22-year-old showed no signs of nervousness while competing in three pistol events.
Fans have been cheering and supporting Bhaker at Paris and will now again witness the shooter carrying the Indian flag. The Indian Olympic Association will likely announce a second flag bearer, a male athlete for the closing ceremony.
The closing ceremony will be held on August 11 at 11:30 PM (IST) and 8:00 PM local time in the national stadium of France, Stade de France. The closing ceremony will be directed by Thomas Jolly and the show is called “records” which will be seen on August 11.
