Day 11 of the Paris Olympics 2024 showed India’s prowess, with wrestler Vinesh Phogat delivering a stunning upset against defending champion Yui Sasaki in the final 20 seconds of their match, ending Sasaki’s 82-0 international record. Meanwhile, javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra lived up to expectations, qualifying for the finals on his first attempt with a “one and done” performance.
As India moves into Day 12, the nation’s athletes are set to compete across multiple events. Wrestler Antin Panghal will seek to continue India’s wrestling success, while hurdler Jyothi Yarraji takes to the track. In other athletics events, Sarvesh Kushare, Annu Rani, Praveen Chitravel, and Abdulla Aboobacker will compete in their respective disciplines, and the mixed race walk team will make their Olympic debut.
Weightlifter Mirabai Chanu, India’s sole qualifier in the sport, aims to defend her silver medal from the Tokyo Olympics. The women’s golf tournament begins, featuring India’s Aditi Ashok and Diksha Dagar, while the women’s table tennis team will continue its campaign, hoping to reach a historic first semi-final in their debut team event. These diverse events offer India multiple opportunities to add to its medal tally and achieve new milestones at the Paris Olympics.
