Paris Olympics 2024 Day 15 results: Aditi Ashok fails to repeat Tokyo magic; Reetika Hooda ends campaign early
The Indian contingent failed to secure a medal on their final day at Paris.
It was a tough final day for the Indian contingent at Paris Olympics 2024. Day 15 saw three Indians competing at the Games. They failed to secure a medal as the Olympic campaign has officially come to an end for India.
The women’s freestyle 76kg wrestling saw Reetika Hooda starting her campaign with a crushing win. Hooda defeated Bernadett Nagy of Hungary in the Round of 16 with a score of 12-2 on technical superiority.
The 21-year-old then faced Aiperi Medet Kyzy of Kyrgyzstan and the match began on an aggressive note. Hooda won the first point as the bout soon turned defensive and Kyzy levelled the scores. With the scores tied, Kyzy advanced to the semi-final due to the tiebreak rule. The rule suggests that the winner will be the one who scored the latest point.
It was not a lucky day for Hooda and India overall as well. Hooda was hoping for a repechage match but Kyzy lost in the semi-finals as it was all over the youngster.

There were two Indians in action in women’s individual stroke play in golf. Aditi Ashok and Diksha Dagar could not deliver in the final round, as they ended on a disappointing note. Ashok had been consistent from the start, but started to drop down in rankings.
She finished T29 with a total of 290 which was the best performance by an Indian golfer at this year’s edition. Ashok had finished a historic fourth at Tokyo Olympics 2020 with a total of 269 and was expected to perform the same this year.
Meanwhile Dagar finished T49 with a total of 301 in her second appearance at the Olympics. She finished 50th in the Tokyo Olympics with a total of 290. The 23-year-old will hope to perform better in the coming editions.
