Indian archery looking forward to getting their first medal.

It has not been an ideal start for Indian shooting contingent at the Paris Olympics 2024. India missed out on bronze medal match in the mixed 10m air Rifle by just a single point. Whereas ace 10m shooter Sarabjot Singh, who won a gold in Munich World Cup, missed out on finals due to one less bullseye. He made a good comeback by shooting a 100 in the fourth series but the very next series, he shot at 93. India has no representatives in men’s 10m air pistol finals.

However, there were some respite as Manu Bhaker salvaged some pride by making into the finals of Women’s 10m air pistol, scoring 580 out of 600 points and finishing third. Rhythm Sangwan bowed out after finishing 15th in same category.

Indian archery teams who created history one day before the opening ceremony by directly making it to the quarterfinals will be seen in action on the Day 2 of Paris Olympics 2024. The women’s team will fight for a medal as all the matches are slated on a single day.

Ankita scored 666 points and finished 11th in the qualification round. With Bhajan Kaur, who ended 22nd, and Deepika Kumari, who ended 23rd, she also contributed to India claiming fourth place with 1983 points.

The Indian women’s team, which missed the last two editions, made it to the quarterfinals with Bhajan scoring 659 and Deepika 658 points.
