Manu Bhaker will look to become India’s first ever triple Olympic medallist in individual sports.

India had mixed results on Day 7 of Paris Olympics 2024. Manu Bhaker finished in the second spot of the women’s 25m pistol qualification round to make it to finals. It will be her final event of the games, and she will be aiming for hat-trick of medals. Esha Singh was also competing in the event but finished 18th after a brilliant precision series.

India’s mixed archery team of Dhiraj Bommadevara and Ankita Bhakat finished at fourth place marking the best performance of an Indian archery team at the Olympics. In Badminton, Lakshya Sen became the first ever Indian men’s singles shuttler to enter the semifinals and will face defending champion Viktor Axelsen.

The Indian men’s hockey team registered its first Olympic victory over Australia in 52 years. Captain Harmanpreet Sigh scored two goals as the men in blue defeated the Aussies 3-2 in the final group B pool match.

Meanwhile, there was tough competition in athletics as Parul Chaudhary and Ankita Dhyani failed to qualify for the women’s 5000m finals. Chaudhary recorded her best timing of this season, but it was not enough. Tajinderpal Singh Toor too finished a disappointing 29th with his best attempt of 18.05 in men’s shot put. The athletics contingent will hope to deliver their best results in the coming days at Paris Olympics 2024.
