Paris Olympics 2024 Day 8 Results: Manu Bhaker finishes fourth in 25m pistol; Nishant Dev, Deepika Kumari out from quarterfinals
It was a case of so near yet so far for Manu Bhaker.
Indian athletes were once again in action on a busy day at Paris Olympics 2024 in France. The action on Day 8 (August 3) Saturday saw Manu Bhaker compete in the women’s 25m pistol final in shooting and she finished fourth, narrowly missing out on a historic third medal in a single edition of the quadrennial event.
Apart from Manu Bhaker, archery veteran Deepika Kumari also featured in the women’s individual category. She began the day with a hard-fought win against Germany’s Michelle Kroppen. However, the quarterfinal saw her compete against South Korean powerhouse Nam Suhyeon, which led to her eventual loss and elimination.
Nethra Kumanan and Vishnu Saravanan were also in action in the women’s and men’s dinghy races respectively. Despite their best effort, the duo could not muster up a challenge for the medals. It was a lukewarm day for the Indian contingent with few moments to celebrate.
