Full list of Indian athletes who will debut at Paris Olympics 2024
Athletics and shooting will see the largest number of debutants.
The world’s biggest sporting event, the Summer Olympics, is set to take place in France from July 26 to August 11, 2024. Officially called Paris Olympics 2024, the Games will mainly be held in Paris, but 16 other French cities will also host events. Some competitions will start a couple of days early, on July 24.
Athletes from around the globe will compete in 329 events across 32 sports, all aiming for the prestigious title of Olympic champion or medalist. The grand opening ceremony is scheduled for July 26 at the Stade de France, marking the official start of the Games.
India is sending a strong contingent to Paris, with 110 athletes qualifying in 16 different sports. What’s particularly exciting is that more than half of these athletes – 68 to be exact – will be making their Olympic debut. This mix of experienced Olympians and fresh talent shows India’s growing strength in various sports.
Indian athletes are expected to begin their Olympic journey on July 27, just a day after the opening ceremony. With so many first-time Olympians, there’s a lot of anticipation about how these newcomers will perform on the world’s biggest sporting stage.
Each sport will have its own set of debutants, bringing fresh energy and ambition to Team India. These new faces represent the next generation of Indian sports and their performance in Paris could shape the future of Olympic sports in the country.
