Aditi Ashok will spearhead India’s Paris Olympics 2024 challenge in golf
India is sending a four-member golf team to the 2024 Paris Olympics, aiming for their first Olympic medal in the sport. The team includes two women and two men golfers.
Aditi Ashok, 26, leads the women’s side. She finished fourth at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, the best performance by an Indian golfer at the Games. Ashok has seven professional titles and an Asian Games silver medal to her name. Joining her is Diksha Dagar, 23, who qualified by finishing 41st in the Olympic Golf Rankings.
On the men’s side, Shubhankar Sharma, 27, is currently India’s top-ranked male golfer at 219th in the world. He was Asia’s top player in 2018 and has won twice on the European Tour. Gaganjeet Bhullar, 36, completes the team. He’s ranked 261st globally and has 11 Asian Tour victories, plus a 2006 Asian Games silver medal.
The men’s event will run from August 1 to 4, while the women’s competition is scheduled for August 7 to 10 at Le Golf National near Paris.
With this mix of young talent and experienced players, India hopes to secure its first Olympic golf medal, contributing to the goal of a double-digit overall medal haul at the Paris Games.
