Manu Bhaker hoping to lead the show for India in air pistol shooting on day 2 of Paris Olympics 2024.
The precision of Manu Bhaker and her pistol answering all the instructions have saved India’s day in shooting at Paris Olympics 2024. The Indian shooters were off to a heartbreaking start on Day 1 in 10m Air Rifle mixed team event as the pair of Ramita Jindal and Arjun Babuta finished sixth in the qualification round.
They missed out on the medal round by a whisker as only the top four teams fight for the medals. The other Indian team, Elavenil Valarivan and Sandeep Singh lacked intent from the start and ended up in 12th place.
In the men’s 10m Pistol event at Paris Olympics 2024, it was yet another heartbreak as Sarabjot Singh missed out on a place in the finals due to a lesser number of inner 10 shots. After a disappointing start, the 22-year-old showed his class with 11 consecutive 10s which included a perfect 100 in the fourth series.
He followed it up with a 93 which reduced his chances. It was up to Manu Bhaker who saved the day by booking a place in the finals. In Rowing, Balraj Panwar finished fourth in Heat 1 of men’s singles sculls clocking 7:07.11 and will be competing in the repechage round of Paris Olympics 2024.

Shooting – 10m Air Pistol Women’s Final – Manu Bhaker
Manu Bhaker is one of the stars of the Indian Olympic contingent as she is one of the two athletes to be competing in two individual events.
She has already made a mark in her favourite event, 10m Air Pistol, as she has qualified for the finals with an impressive 580/600. Although it is way lower than her previous best, it was relieving to Bhaker finish third in the qualification.

Having reunited with her old coach, she seemed to have buried her bad habit of inconsistency. It was evident as the 22-year-old struck the inner ten 27 times which is the most during qualification.
She will look to bury her memories of the Tokyo Olympics when a Pistol malfunction caused her a medal. The youngest Indian to win a Gold in the ISSF World Cup will look to become the first Indian woman shooter to win medal at the summer games in Paris Olympics 2024 on Sunday.
