Manu Bhaker will be looking to enter Indian record books at Paris Olympics 2024.

India started off the third day at the Paris Olympics 2024 with a mixed bag of badminton results, as Lakshya Sen’s win over Kevin Cordon was considered to have been deleted after Cordon pulled out due to an elbow injury. But that didn’t stop the world No #18 from winning his game on Monday against Belgium’s Julien Carraggi.

Another injury update from Badminton opponent came from Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty’s opponent pulling out due to Germany’s Mark Lamsfuss injury. Meanwhile, in the women’s doubles, Ashwini Ponnappa and Tanisha Crasto suffered a straight-game defeat against Japan. The defeat meant that their journey in Paris Olympics 2024 came to an end. They will play their final group match while hoping to end with a win.

On the shooting front, Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh booked their place in the finals of mixed team, while Ramita Jindal finished seventh in the 10m Air Rifle women’s final.

Arjun Babuta was in contention for a medal for most parts of the competition only to miss out on the final shot where he fired his worst shot of the campaign. It was another disappointed day for Archery as the Men’s team fumbled in the last eight against Turkiye.

Harmanpreet Singh’s late goal helped India salvage a draw against Argentina in the men’s hockey match. India would be hoping for some improvement in their fortunes on the fourth day. On that front, let’s look at the medal contenders for India on Tuesday.

Dreams do come true if there is hard work and perseverance. Manu Bhaker is living it by becoming the first Indian woman to win an Olympic medal in shooting. The Indian duo will face South Korea’s Oh Ye-jin and Lee Wonho. Ye-jin had won the gold in women’s 10m Air Pistol while Wonho finished fourth in the men’s event. It will be a tough outing for Manu and Sarabjot but the 22-year-olds will be up for the challenge.

They will look to do everything on Tuesday to get the bronze medal. Manu will be confident going into the match not only because of her medal-winning performance in the individual event but also the fact that she holds the World record and the Olympic record in this event.

While it was Saurabh Chaudhary who was beside her during the record-breaking performance, the 22-year-old will rely on Sarabjot at Paris to repeat the feat and create history for India.

Shooting – Men’s Trap Event – Prithviraj Tondaiman (12:30 PM)

Prithviraj Tondaiman will be in action in the Men’s Trap event. The shooter from Tamil Nadu is reeling at the last position in the standings as of now with 68 shots after the completion of three rounds with each round consisting of 25 shots. Prithviraj was slow to start with 22 in the first round. He was in the 22nd position in the standings after the first essay.

But his recovery was impressive in the second round hitting all 25 to move ahead to 15th position. The 37-year-old couldn’t maintain the momentum as he could only score 21 shots in the next series which placed him 30th. The Indian will look to give his best shot in the available two rounds to finish in the top six, in order to qualify for the finals at 7 PM IST.
