India added one more bronze to its tally on Day 4 of Paris Olympics.

India had a mixed day of results on Day 4 of the Paris Olympics 2024. The men’s hockey team secured an important 2-0 victory against Ireland in their Pool B match, moving to the top of their group standings. This win strengthens their position in the tournament.

In shooting, Manu Bhaker made history by winning her second medal of these Games. Partnering with Sarabjot Singh, she clinched a bronze in the 10m mixed team pistol event. This adds to her earlier bronze in the individual 10m event.

Archery saw a breakthrough as Bhajan Kaur became the first Indian archer to reach the round of 16 in this edition of the Olympics. She defeated her Polish opponent 6-0 in the women’s individual event.

In badminton, the men’s doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty won their final group match, confirming their top spot in Group C. They will now move on to the quarter-finals.

However, it wasn’t all good news. The women’s badminton doubles pair of Tanisha Crasto and Ashwini Ponnappa lost their third consecutive match, ending their Olympic campaign.

Number of medals Indian athletes contested on 30th July

India contested one medal on Day 4 of the Paris Olympics 2024, resulting in a bronze in the 10m Air Pistol mixed team event. Shooters Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh secured this medal by defeating the South Korean team 16-10.

This victory marked India’s second medal of the Games, both won by Bhaker. Her earlier bronze came in the women’s 10m air pistol event. With this achievement, Bhaker made history as the first Indian shooter to win two Olympic medals and the first Indian athlete ever to win two medals in a single Olympic Games edition.

What to expect from Indian contingent on Day 5, 31st July?

On Day 5 of the Paris Olympics, India’s athletes will compete across multiple sports. In shooting, Rajeshwari Kumari and Shreyasi Singh aim to qualify for the women’s trap final. Archers Tarundeep Rai and Deepika Kumari enter individual elimination rounds.

Badminton stars PV Sindhu, Lakshya Sen, and HS Prannoy seek to secure round of 16 spots in their final group matches.

Boxers Lovlina Borgohain and Nishant Dev compete in round of 16 bouts in their respective weight categories. Anush Agarwalla continues in dressage qualifications, while table tennis player Sreeja Akula aims for a round of 16 spot.
