Athletics and Shooting lead the numbers for India at Paris Olympics 2024.

There will be over 100 athletes from India who will compete at the Paris Olympics 2024. Indian athletes will be seen participating across 16 sports disciplines for the highest honour. There are few youngsters who will be making their debut at the Olympics this time.

Amongst the 16 sporting disciplines, the highest number of representation is in Athletics. There are 29 in Athletics and 21 in Shooting. There are four disciples with only one representative from the country.

Judo, Rowing, Weightlifting and Equestrian have been underrepresented this time from India. Tulika Maan is the only one from India competing in Judo and that is the same for Mirabai Chanu in Weightlifting.

While in Equestrian, only Anush Agarwalla made the cut and Balraj Panwar will be the lone rower from India at Paris Olympics 2024. Overall, India has been increasing its attendance at the Olympic games. But it has proved to be inadequate considering the population.

Athletes have qualified through rankings, continental quota, entry standard and universality places. Swimmers, Srihari Nataraj and Dhinidhi Desinghu are the only athletes to have qualified through universality places.

Desinghu will be the youngest athlete from the country at the Paris Olympics 2024. The 14-year-old will be competing in women’s 200m freestyle. On the other hand, Rohan Bopanna will be the oldest competitor from the country at Paris.

The 44-year-old will be competing in tennis doubles with Sriram Balaji. India will be hoping to get a record breaking medal tally this time. Few athletes will aim to win their second medal at the Olympic games.

PV Sindhu remains the only one who is targeting her third successive Olympic medal. The gold medal remains elusive for her. She could become the first Indian to win three individual Olympic medals.

The Paris Olympics 2024 is set to start from July 26 and will go till August 11. Indian athletes have been travelling abroad to get their mind and body prepared for Paris.

This time the chances look bright for Indian fans as they will see their idols performing on almost all days of the Olympics. The calendar is packed with promises and hopes.
