Jasmine Paolini reached the final of the women’s singles as well as doubles events at the 2024 French Open.
2024 French Open runner-up Jasmine Paolini will represent Italy alongside countrywoman Sara Errani in the women’s doubles event at the Paris Olympics.
Paolini had a memorable campaign at the 2024 French Open, where she reached her first Grand Slam final. She defeated World No. 4 Elena Rybakina and Russian prodigy Mirra Andreeva in the quarter-finals and semi-finals respectively on her route to the championship match.
However, she suffered a 6-2, 6-1 loss against five-time Grand Slam champion Iga Swiatek. Interestingly, Jasmine Paolini and Sara Errani, who won the Italian Open last month, also reached the final of the women’s doubles event at Stade Roland Garros.
Nevertheless, they ended as runners-up against the fifth-seed pair of Coco Gauff and Kateřina Siniaková. Following the Grand Slam, the Italian duo is set to compete at the sporting megafest, the Olympics. After the official announcement was made by the Italian tennis federation on Friday, Paolini also took to social media to post about the news.
She wrote (on X), “I’ll be playing singles and doubles (with Sara of!) in the @olympics! It’s amazing to be part of another Olympics and to play for Italy. Tokyo was fantastic! #TeamItaly”
The two also played together at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, where they were eliminated in the second round by Ukraine’s Lyudmyla Viktorivna Kichenok and Nadiia Viktorivna Kichenok. However, Jasmine Paolini and Sara Errani will be aiming for a podium finish at the upcoming edition.

Apart from the women’s doubles event, the Italian Tennis Federation has named Jannik Sinner and Lorenzo Musetti as their entries in the men’s doubles event. Sinner has been in top form in 2024, winning three titles with a win-loss record of 33/3. Meanwhile, Musetti’s form has been concerning, as he has lost 15 of the 26 matches he has played.
