Paris Olympics 2024: Updated medal tally after 1st August 2024

The USA contingent has shot into the second position in the medal tally.

The Paris Olympics 2024 in France has delivered on the entertainment front since its start. There were plenty of medals up for grabs on an eventful 1 August 2024 that saw athletes across various disciplines push themselves beyond their limits. China is continuing its reign on the top of the medal tally as the athletes have continued to impress.

But it may not be for long as USA has made its biggest leap yet at Paris Olympics 2024 by reserving the second spot. Meanwhile, India too won a medal on day 6 as shooting continued to provide the nation with accolades at the quadrennial games. Swapnil Kusale won the bronze medal in 50m 3P rifle event which was only the second event of the day.

The day started with Ecuador’s Brian Pintado winning the first gold athletics gold of the Paris Olympics 2024. He finished on top in the 20km racewalk event as Spain gathered a silver in the men’s event and bronze in the women’s event respectively.

Medal tally table toppers, China has now won 11 golds, seven silvers and six bronze medals. The Asian giants secured two golds within the first few hours of day 6 of Paris Olympics 2024. The first one came in the men’s 50m Rifle 3P event through Liu Yukun and the second gold in courtesy of Yang Jiayu in women’s 20km racewalk. Ma Zhenzhao won the bronze medal in women’s 78kg Judo.

The top performers on day 6 of Paris Olympics 2024 were from the USA contingent. Thanks to their performance, the nation which was placed seventh on day 5 July, is currently placed second in the medal tally. They have won nine golds, 15 silvers and 13 bronze medals. The first gold medal came through Rowing in men’s four event. It was followed by a magnificent performance by Simone Biles who won the gold in women’s all round under gymanstics. The bronze medal was won by her teammate Sunisa Lee.

Team USA again finished on top of the podium in women’s foil team under fencing. Kate Douglass at the end of day 6 won the gold in women’s 200m breaststroke. The USA contingent ended the day with a silver in 4x200m fresstyle relay.

France meanwhile could only win a single medal on day 6 as it slipped down to third position. It has collected eight golds, 11 silvers and eight bronze medals. 19-year-old Titouan Castryck won the silver medal in men’s kayak single.

In fourth position are former table toppers, Australia which won two medals on day 6 of Paris Olympics 2024. They have won eight golds, six silvers and four bronze medals. Their first medal came in the first women’s event of the day as Jemima Montag secured bronze. Australia’s second medal was secured in the final event of the day which was gold in women’s 4x200m freestyle event.

Japan was placed third in day 5 and is currently ranked fifth. It could only win one bronze on day 6. Japan has eight golds, three silvers and five bronze medals. The women’s foil team under Fencing won the bronze medal. Japan beat Canada by a single point in the bronze medal playoff which lasted for an hour and 11 minutes.

Great Britain has dropped a place and is now ranked sixth in the medal tally with six golds, seven silvers and seven bronze medals. They won three medals on day 6 and all of them came in rowing events. The first medal was a bronze in women’s double sculls, the second one came through women’s four. The final one came few minutes later in men’s four.
