Paris Olympics 2024: Updated medal tally after 31st July 2024
China reigned supreme in the medal tally on Wednesday at Paris Olympics 2024.
The competition at the Paris Olympics 2024 in France is heating up with every passing day. The athletes from the participating nations are delivering mind-blowing performances in the hopes of winning a coveted Olympic medal for their fans and the country as a whole. Since the start of the quadrennial event, the medal tally has seen a lot of movement with countries winning plenty of gold medals across multiple disciplines.
The story was the same on 31st July Wednesday) at Paris Olympics 2024 as plenty of athletes walked away with gold medals, adding them to the total tally of their respective nation. Guatemala won its first-ever gold medal at the Olympics thanks to Adriana Ruano Oliva who won the gold in trap women’s Final from the shooting discipline, setting a new Olympic record in the process.
India could not add medals to their tally but finished with positive results. The triathlon events saw Great Britain and France winning a medal each in men’s and women’s event. Meanwhile, Netherlands secured a gold and a silver in men’s and women’s quadruple sculls under rowing respectively.

Medal tally table toppers, China has now won nine golds, seven silvers and three bronze medals. It secured gold in Women’s Synchronised 10m Platform under diving. The Asian giants also secured gold in the women’s park event from the cycling BMX freestyle discipline through 18-year-old Yawen Deng. Pan Zhanle broke the world record while winning gold in men’s 100 freestyle.
In men’s gymnastics, Zhang Boheng took the silver while Xiao Ruoteng took the bronze in men’s all round event.

In second place is France, which has now overtaken Australia and Japan in the medal tally. The host nation has won eight golds, ten silvers and eight bronze medals. Cassandre Beaugrand started the day with a gold medal in women’s triathlon.
It was followed by Leo Bergere’s bronze medal in the men’s event. Anthony Jeanjean also delighted the home crowd with a bronze medal in men’s BMX freestyle. Leon Marchand ended the day with golds in men’s 200m butterfly and breastroke.
Japan is now third as it could only add two medals on Wednesday. It has now won eight golds, three silvers and four bronze medals. Shinnosuke Oka won the gold in men’s all round under gymanstics. Sanshiro Murao secured the silver medal in men’s 90 kg Judo.
Australia has now dropped to fourth position in the medal tally with seven golds, six silvers and three bronze medals. Kaylee McKeown won gold in women’s 100m Backstroke. Jessica Fox won her second gold of Paris Olympics 2024 as she finished first in Canoe Single under Canoe slalom. Meanwhile, Zac Stubblety-Cook and Kyle Chalmers won silver medals in men’s 200m breastroke and 100m freestyle respectively.
It was a positive day out at Paris Olympics 2024 for the athletes from Great Britain. The nation stands in fifth place with six golds, six silvers and five bronze medals. They won the top prize in men’s Triathlon in courtesy of Alex Yee.
Another gold medal was won in the rowing discipline where the athletes from Great Britain finished first in the Women’s Quadruple Sculls Finals event. The men’s 4x200m freestyle swimming saw Great Britain secure the gold.
Republic of Korea is in sixth place with six golds, three silvers and three bronze medals. The men’s sabre team won the gold in fencing which was the only medal for the nation on wednesday.
USA continues to have a slow start at Paris Olympics 2024. It has now won five golds, 13 silvers and 12 bronze medals. The athletes from the USA had an unlucky day in the swimming discipline as Bobby Finke won silver in Men’s 800m freestyle Final.
Moreover, in the Men’s 4x200m freestyle relay final, the American team settled for another silver medal. Katie Ledecky provided the only gold medal for USA on a rather dry day for the nation. She finished first in 1500m freestyle swimming.
