Rafael Nadal has been chosen for Spain’s tennis squad for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
The tennis events at the 2024 Paris Olympics are scheduled from July 27 to August 3. Thus, the Spanish tennis squad for the upcoming Olympics has been announced. The list includes the names of Rafael Nadal, Carlos Alcaraz, Pablo Carreño Busta, Alejandro Davidovich and Marcel Granollers.
Nadal made his long-awaited comeback on clay at the ATP 500 Barcelona Open in April. However, since his return, the Spaniard has lost four out of the nine matches he has played. He also received a warm reception at the 2024 French Open, where he suffered a straight-sets loss against eventual runner-up Alexander Zverev.
Meanwhile, Carlos Alcaraz defeated Alexander Zverev to win his maiden Roland-Garros title at the 2024 French Open. With the triumph, he has become the youngest player in tennis history to win a major on all three surfaces. In addition, he also overtook Novak Djokovic in the ATP rankings.
Spain captain David Ferrer said via the Spanish tennis federation, “Rafa and Carlos will be playing together in Paris.”
