Harmeet Desai, representing India in table tennis at the Paris 2024 Olympics, won his first match on Saturday. The 31-year-old defeated Zaid Abo Yaman from Jordan with a score of 4-0 in the preliminary round of men’s singles.

Desai, who has won two gold medals at the Commonwealth Games, showed strong performance throughout the match. He won each game with scores of 11-7, 11-9, 11-5, and 11-5. The entire match lasted only 30 minutes.

In the first game, Desai quickly took control, winning five points in a row to secure the game. The second game was closer, but Desai still came out on top. In the third and fourth games, he dominated with his serves, winning many points directly from them.

With this victory, Desai moves on to the next round of the competition. He will face Felix Lebrun from France on Sunday in the round of 64. This match will take place at the South Paris Arena.

Desai isn’t the only Indian table tennis player at the Olympics. Sharath Kamal, who helped carry India’s flag in the Opening Ceremony, will also play in the men’s singles event. Kamal’s first match is on Sunday against Deni Kozul from Slovenia.
