Paris Olympics 2024: Top five USA athletes to watch on Day 5

USA contingent has consistently delivered podium finishes so far at Paris Olympics 2024.
The Paris Olympics 2024 has been going well so far for USA but not great. Meanwhile, China is holding the top spot in the medal tally with 13 medals which includes seven gold, two silver and four bronze medals.
Athletes of the United States of America have already bagged 25 medals, which include four gold, 10 silver and 11 bronze medals. They are currently placed sixth in the medal tally.

On Day 5 of Paris Olympics 2024, USA’s athletes will compete in 20 different sports, which includes 3×3 Basketball, Badminton, Beach volleyball, Boxing, Diving, Fencing, Football, Freestyle BMX, Hockey, Judo, Rowing, Sailing, Shooting, Swimming, Table tennis, Triathlon, Volleyball and Water polo.
Here are the top five USA athletes who will be in focus on Day 5 of Paris Olympics 2024.
Beiwen Zhang (Women’s Badminton singles)
The world no.11 women’s singles badminton player will be in action on day 5 of the Paris Olympics 2024. She has already won her first match in Group K against Tiffany Ho by defeating in 21-9, 21-4.
With a 352-193 win loss record in her career, Beiwen Zhang has won the gold medal at the Pan American Games thrice in her career. She clinched the first title in 2021 and then went on to win it in 2023 and 2024 respectively.
The 34-year-old will next face Nguyen Thuy Linh of Vietnam which is scheduled at 8.30 AM GMT and 12:00 PM IST.
Jahmal Harvey (Men’s Featherweight Boxing)
The 2021 World Championship gold medalist in the Men’s 57 KG featherweight category. Jahmal Harvey is going to face Brazil’s Luiz Gabriel Oliveira in the Round of 16 at Paris Olympics 2024. Jahmal’s major achievements in his career are the gold medals at the 2021 Men’s World Boxing Championships Belgrade and 2023 Pan American Games.
The match will be played at the North Paris Area at 16:02 GMT and 19:32 IST.

Sophia Smith (Women’s Football)
The USA’s women’s football team will also be in action on Day 5. They will face Australia in their next fixture of Group B, which is going to be an interesting clash as both the teams have some exceptional players.
Sophia Smith is going to play a crucial role when she takes the field. Smith has already scored two goals in their crucial match against Germany. The forward will look to lead the team to win in the final group match.
Swanson Mallory (Women’s Football)
Swanson Mallory who will be in the list of top athletes who will take the field for USA on day 5. She has already proved to be a matchwinner from the very beginning of Paris Olympics 2024. With three goals to her name, she is now the top scorer for her team at the moment. USA has already topped group B and will seek to continue their unbeaten run.
The United States of America’s women’s football team’s next match is scheduled at 19:00 GMT and 22:30 IST, which will be played at Marseille Stadium.
Morgan Pearson (Men’s Triathlon)
USA’s Morgan Pearson will be part of the Men’s Triathlon on Day 5 of the Paris Olympics 2024. He won the world series triathlon at Japan this year and will set his eyes on a podium finish at Paris. The 30-year-old is competing at his second Olympics.
Morgan already has an Olympic silver medal to his name which he won in the mixed relay triathlon competition at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. The Men’s Triathlon event is scheduled at 10:45 GMT and 14:15 IST.
