The USA contingent returned home with 126 medals at Paris Olympics 2024.
The Paris Olympics 2024 saw an intense rivalry in the medal tally between USA and China as the former eventually won the battle.
The USA sent a team of 592 athletes to compete at the Paris Olympics 2024, where they delivered impressive performances across various sports. Among them was the youngest athlete in the team, 16-year-old gymnast Hezly Rivera. Rivera returned home with an Olympic gold medal, becoming a key member of the USA women’s gymnastics team that dominated the events at the Games.
Rivera competed in the women’s team under artistic gymnastics and was at least five younger than her teammates. She competed alongside Simone Biles, Sunisa Lee, Jordan Chiles and Jade Carey. They won gold in the women’s team final as Rivera returned home with a new Olympic milestone under belt.
There were four rotations in the women’s team event. Each rotation had four routines consisting of vault, floor exercise, balance beam and uneven bars. Although Rivera did not compete in them she was part of team USA. She could not qualify for the individual finals in bars and beam at Paris Olympics 2024.

Team USA comfortably won the women’s team final with 171.296 points. They had outscored their rivals in all four routines and only faced tough competition in the balance beam routine against Italy and Canada.
Rivera had become the youngest athlete in the contingent when she qualified in the US Olympic trials held at Minnesota. Now she has had the chance to be with one the most decorated gymnast athletes, Simone Biles at Paris Olympics 2024.
Rivera will hope to put on an impressive performance in the upcoming edition of the Olympics. It will be in front of her home crowd at the Los Angeles Olympics 2028.
Rivera will be 20 years old by then and will have plenty of experience by her side. The youngest athlete and medallist of USA at Paris Olympics 2024 has had a memorable outing this year. She is aiming to break more records and must have been inspired by her teammates’ performance especially of Biles.
