Which Olympic medalists will represent India at Paris Olympics 2024?
Two-time Olympic medalist P.V. Sindhu will be eyeing her third Olympic medal.
As the Paris Olympics 2024 approach, India will be represented by an impressive roster of Olympic medalists who have already etched their names in history with outstanding performances. Starting with P.V. Sindhu, a two-time Olympic medallist in badminton.
Next is Neeraj Chopra, the first Indian to win an Olympic gold in track and field, followed by Meerabai Chanu, a weightlifter who won silver in Tokyo, Lovlina Borgohain, a bronze-winning boxer and the resilient Indian men’s hockey team, who claimed a historic bronze in 2020.
That said, let’s take a closer look at each of India’s Olympic medal holders who will be representing the country at the Paris Olympics:
Pusarla Venkata Sindhu
India’s star badminton shuttler, P.V. Sindhu, will be eyeing her third Olympic medal in Paris. She won her first Olympic medal at the Rio Olympics in 2016, a silver where she lost to Carolina Marin from Spain in the final.
The two might square off again in Paris, a battle everyone would look out for. Sindhu secured her second Olympic medal at the Tokyo Olympics in 2020, winning bronze by defeating China’s He Bing Jao. Earlier in the semis, Sindhu lost to Chinese Taipei’s Tai Tzu-ying who reportedly is playing her last Olympic Games. Sindhu has consistently proven herself on the big stage and India will be rooting for her to medal in Paris.
Neeraj Chopra
India’s golden boy, Neeraj Chopra, made history by winning the gold medal in the men’s javelin throw at the Tokyo Olympics in 2020. It was India’s first Olympic medal in athletics, setting a new benchmark for Indian track and field athletes.
Since Tokyo, Chopra has continued to excel, winning silver at the Oregon World Championships in July 2022 and securing gold at the 2023 World Athletics Championships. He remains one of India’s biggest medal hopes at the Paris Olympics.

Saikhom Mirabai Chanu
Mirabai Chanu brought pride to India by winning a silver medal in the women’s 49kg category in weightlifting at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. The Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna and Padma Shri awardee clinched the gold medal in the 49kg category at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England.
She achieved a combined lift of 201kgs in the snatch and clean and jerk events. India will be watching closely as Mirabai Chanu aims for her second Olympic medal.
Lovlina Borgohain
Indian boxer Lovlina Borgohain has emerged as a rising star in the world of women’s boxing, with a series of impressive performances on the international scene. Her journey to success began at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, where she clinched a bronze medal in the women’s welterweight (69kg) category. This achievement made her the third Indian boxer to secure an Olympic medal.
Borgohain’s Olympic success came after a crucial victory over Chen Nien-chin, a formidable opponent. The Indian boxer continued to build on this momentum in the following years. At the 2022 IBA Women’s World Boxing Championships, she once again faced and defeated Chen Nien-chin in the opening round.
Indian men’s hockey team
Led by captain Manpreet Singh, the Indian men’s hockey team made a historic comeback by winning bronze at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, marking their first Olympic medal in hockey since 1980. They defeated Germany in the bronze medal match.
With a rich history as an eight-time Olympic gold medalist and winners of the 1975 Men’s Hockey World Cup, the team will aim to uphold India’s prosperous hockey legacy at the Paris Olympics.
