Paris Paralympics 2024: India’s medal tally after Day 3, August 31
India added one more bronze to its medal tally.
India continued its impressive run at the Paris Paralympics 2024, adding to its medal tally on the third day of competition. The highlight of the day was Rubina Francis’s bronze medal in the Women’s 10m Air Pistol SH1 event, marking India’s fifth medal of the Games.
Rubina, who finished seventh in Tokyo, improved her performance to secure a podium finish this time. Her success adds to India’s growing reputation in Paralympic shooting, following the four medals won on Day 2.
In para badminton, India guaranteed at least one more medal as both Suhas Yathiraj and Sukant Kadam advanced to the semifinals of the men’s singles SL4 event, where they will meet each other for a place in the final. Their progress ensures India will add to its medal count in this discipline.
These achievements build on India’s strong performance from Day 2, which saw Avani Lekhara defend her gold in the 10m rifle event, Mona Agarwal take bronze in the same event, Manish Narwal win silver in 10m pistol, and Preethi Pal make history as India’s first medalist in a Paralympic sprint event.
The para archery events also showed promise but for a brief moment, with Sarita reaching the quarterfinals in her category where she lost. However, the shocking result for India in this category was Sheetal Devi’s defeat in the last 16 stage after a fought fight.
