Paris Paralympics 2024: India’s medal tally after Day 6, September 3

India now has won 20 medals at Paris Paralympics 2024.
India had a stellar performance on Day 6 of the Paris Paralympics 2024, securing five medals in Para Athletics and reaching a historic 20-medal count. This achievement surpasses their previous record set at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics.
The day’s success began with Deepthi Jeevanji claiming bronze in the women’s 400m T20 event. In men’s high jump T63, Mariyappan Thangavelu and Sharad Kumar secured bronze and silver respectively. The men’s javelin throw F46 event saw Ajeet Singh clinching silver and Sundar Singh Gurjar taking bronze. These victories propelled India to 19th place on the overall medal tally.
In other events, archer Pooja advanced to the quarterfinals in women’s Individual Recurve Open but narrowly missed an upset against China’s Wu Chunyan. Shooter Avani Lekhara qualified for the women’s 50m Rifle 3 Positions SH1 final but finished fifth.
Number of medals Indian athletes contested on September 3
India made a strong showing on Day 6 of the Paris Paralympics 2024, competing for medals across four categories.
In para-athletics, Deepthi Jeevanji secured bronze in the women’s 400m T20 event with a time of 55.82s. Bhagyashri Jadhav finished 5th in women’s shot put F34.
The day concluded with more medals in men’s high jump T63 and javelin throw F46 finals, through athletes like Sharad Kumar, Ajeet Singh, Mariyappan Thangavelu and Sundar Singh Gurjar.

Paris Paralympics 2024: Updated India medal tally after September 3 (Day 6)
India has won 20 medals at the Paris Paralympics, including three gold, seven silver, and 10 bronze. The nation achieved four double podium finishes across shooting, badminton, javelin throw, and high jump events. Avani Lekhara secured gold in the women’s 10 m air rifle, marking back-to-back wins. Nitesh Kumar and Sumit Antil also won gold in badminton and javelin, respectively.
Manish Narwal, Nishad Kumar, Yogesh Kathuniya, Thulasimathi Murugesan, Suhas Yathiraj, Sharad Kumar and Ajeet Singh earned silver medals. Bronze medals were clinched by Mona Agarwal, Preethi Pal, Rubina Francis, Sheetal Devi/Rakesh Kumar, Manisha Ramadass, Nithya Sivan, Deepthi Jeevanji, Mariyappan Thangavelu and Sundar Singh Gurjar.
What to expect from Indian contingent on Day 7, September 4?
India will have plenty of opportunities to add to their medal tally on Day 7 of the Paris Paralympics 2024, with seven events offering potential podium finishes. Harvinder Singh, a 2020 Tokyo Paralympics bronze medallist, will lead the charge in the men’s individual recurve archery event.
Medal events include the P4 mixed 50m pistol SH1, men’s shot put F46, women’s shot put F46, and men’s club throw F51. Powerlifters Sakina Khatun (women’s 45kg) and Paramjeet Kumar (men’s 49kg) will also aim to secure medals.
