Paris Paralympics 2024: Updated India schedule for Day 5, September 2
Defending champion and world record holder Sumit Antil will be in action.
The fifth day of the Paris Paralympics 2024 on 2nd September promises a packed schedule across multiple sports, with several medal events and crucial qualification rounds on the cards.
Para archery takes centre stage with Sheetal Devi and Rakesh Kumar competing in the Mixed Individual Compound Open elimination rounds, potentially advancing to the finals later in the day.
In para athletics, notable events include the Men’s Discus Throw F56 Final featuring Yogesh Kathuniya, and the Men’s Javelin Throw F64 Final with Sumit Antil, Sandeep, and Sandeep Sanjay Sagar vying for medals. Kanchan Lakhani will also be in action in the women’s discus throw F53 final.
India big hopes on Monday though will be on para badminton in which India will contend for three gold medals and four bronze medals. Suhas Yathiraj, Nitesh Kumar and Thulasimathi Murugesan have already secured silver and will play for the gold medals. Sukant Kadam, Nithya Sivan and Manisha Ramadass will be among Indian shuttlers contending for the bronze medal.
Other sports featuring crucial matches and finals include para shooting and para athletics among others.
