India will contend in at least six medal events on Day 6.

India is poised for a strong showing on the sixth day of the Paris Paralympics 2024, with medal opportunities across three sports – para-shooting, para-archery, and para-athletics.

In para-shooting, India’s Avani Lekhara, a two-time Paralympic champion, will compete in the women’s 50m Rifle 3 Position SH1 event. Lekhara won bronze in this event in Tokyo and will look to upgrade her medal. Teammate Mona Agarwal, who won bronze in the 10m event, will also be in action.

In para-archery, Pooja will represent India in the recurve women’s individual competition.

However, India’s best hopes for medals lie in para-athletics. In the men’s javelin F46 event, India could potentially sweep the medals. World record holder Deepthi Jeevanji will be the favourite to win India’s first gold in the women’s 400m track event. Bhagyashri, the 2024 World Championships silver medalist, will also be in contention.

Former Paralympic champion Mariyappan Thangavelu, along with Shailesh Kumar and Sharad Kumar, are also expected to win medals for India in para-athletics.
