The 2020 Tokyo Olympics are picking up pace as the days pass on. The Indian contingent are trying their best to represent the country well at the mega event and perform to the best of their abilities. However, India has not been able to add to the silver medal won by Mirabai Chanu in weightlifting as of yet. Day 4 at the Tokyo Olympics was also full of heartbreak for the Indians.
Day 4 of the Olympics in Tokyo saw several more Indians turn up for their country including the likes of Bhavani Devi, Sharath Kamal and more. Here is the summary of the day’s action and a look at the performances by the Indian athletes in Tokyo.
Shooting
In the Men's Skeet Qualification event, the Indian duo of Angad Singh and Mairaj Ahmad failed to qualify into the finals in Day 4 of Tokyo Olympics. Only the top-six athletes were to qualify while Angad finished in 18th place with 120 points and Mairaj finished in 25th place with 117 points, out of a possible 125. India's disappointing performance in shooting events continues at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Fencing
Bhavani Devi created history by winning India’s first-ever contest in Fencing at the Olympics. She defeated Tunisia’s Nadia Ben Azizi by a score of 15-3 in dominant fashion in the Table of 64.
However, she had to face elimination in the Table of 32 at the hands of France’s Manon Brunet. The World No.3 athlete made short work of the Indian by defeating her with a 15-3 scoreline. Bhavani Devi bowed out of the Olympics, but certainly made India proud and will inspire more people to take up the sport.

Medvedev registered the victory by a 6-2, 6-1 score, thus eliminating the Indian athlete in the process.
Archery
In the Men’s Team event, Atanu Das, Tarundeep Rai and Pravin Jadhav defeated the trio from Kazakhstan in the Round of 16. They secured the win by a score of 6-2 set points, setting up a meet with South Korea in the quarterfinals.
