Serena Williams and Simone Biles share the record of most Laureus Sportswoman of the Year awards.
Simone Biles equalled compatriot and tennis legend Serena Williams’ record of four Laureus World Sportswoman of the Year awards after completing her “redemption tour” by winning the Sportswoman of the Year award at the prestigious event.
Biles, who returned to the Olympic stage at Paris 2024 after a two-year break, clinched gold in the women’s all-around and vault as well a team gold and picked up silver in the floor exercise.
The Laureus World Sportswoman of the Year award is given to the female athlete who has accomplished the most outstanding achievement in her sport during the preceding calendar year. The award was initially presented in 2000 and has since grown to become one of the most prominent sports honors in the world, honoring the achievements of athletes across various disciplines.
A panel comprised of global sports journalists selects the candidates for the Laureus World Sportswoman of the Year award, with the winner being ultimately determined by votes from members of the Laureus World Sports Academy, an association of sporting icons who accomplished the highest level of excellence in their respective sports.
