Sports fraternity share pictures with moms on Mother's Day

From grapplers to shuttlers, different athletes wished their moms on Mother’s Day.

Mother’s Day, which is celebrated on the second Sunday of every May, is being celebrated today (May 12) this year. On the special day, several sporting icons and athletes all across the nation took to social media and shared pictures with their mothers. Hence, let’s take a look at a few of the posts.

Indian mixed martial artist and former amateur wrestler Ritu Phogat shared a picture with her mother on her official X (formerly Twitter) account. In the picture, Phogat’s mother can be seen playing with a cat.

Ritu Phogat’s sister, Geeta Phogat also shared a selfie with their mom on social media on the occasion of Mother’s Day.

Tokyo Olympics bronze medalist Bajrang Punia also shared a couple of photos with his mother. In the first picture, her mother can be seen holding one of his gold medals, while in the other picture, Punia can be seen standing alongside his parents.

Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar also uploaded a picture on X with his mother, where he also penned a heartfelt note. He wrote, “Mothers turn houses into homes and hard times into comforting hugs. My Aai has done that and so much more. Thank you, Aai, for being my rock. Happy Mother’s Day!”

Indian cricket star Jaspirt Bumrah also shared a couple of pictures with his mother and his newly born child with his wife on the special day.

Hangzhou Asian Games bronze medalist and former World No. 6 HS Prannoy also shared an adorable snap with his mother on social media. He captioned the photo, “Happy Mother’s Day to the one who always cheers me on! My biggest fan and best teammate!”

HS Prannoy’s Thomas Cup teammate and Commonwealth Games gold medalist, Lakshya Sen also wrote a heartwarming message, where he thanked his mother for all her sacrifices for his success. Sen wrote, “On this Mother’s Day, we want to serve up a special tribute to the woman who’s been our coach, mentor, and biggest fan rolled into one. Mom, your sacrifices and love have shaped us into the players and men we are today. Thank you for everything. We love you endless.”

Indian paddler and two-time Commonwealth Games men’s singles gold medalist Sharath Kamal also wished her mom on Mother’s Day.

Apart from these sporting icons, a lot of other athletes also shared their pictures with their mothers on the special day. Meanwhile, the athletes who didn’t post any pictures would have wished their mothers in person too.
