The World Games 2025 opening ceremony is scheduled for August 6.
The World Games 2025 is scheduled to be held from August 7 to 17 in Chengdu, China. A total of 118 nations are participating in the tournament, which will encompass 42 sports, having 60 disciplines and 253 medal events. Around 5,000 athletes are expected to showcase their skills in the World Games 2025.
India are fielding a 17-member contingent (10 men and 7 women), which is their largest contingent in the tournament’s history. They will participate in archery, billiards, racquetball, roller sports (road speed skating and track speed skating), and Wushu.
So far, India have won five medals at the World Games since first participating in the 1981 edition. Their only gold medal came in 2013, when Aditya Mehta claimed the prized metal in billiards.
Meanwhile, India finished 70th in the table after returning with a solitary bronze medal in their last appearance in 2022. Jyothi Surekha Vennam and Abhishek Verma finished third in the mixed team compound event in archery.
