World Para Athletics Championships 2025: Updated India schedule for Day 5, September 30

India will participate in two medal matches on Day 5 of the championships.

India will hope to continue its medal rush on Day 5 of the World Para Athletics Championships 2025. The host nation will compete for two medals on Wednesday (October 1).

So far, India has won nine medals in the competition in New Delhi, including four gold medals. On September 1, six Indian athletes will participate in five events.

Suchitra Parida will participate in women’s javelin throw F56 final and will be trying to give her best at the World stage in front of the home crowd.

Meanwhile, the 24-year-old Anjanaben Rohitbhai Bumbadiya will be looking to break her personal Best in women’s 400m T47 category.

In the evening session all eyes will be on Dilip Gavit, The Asian Para Games Champion will be looking to qualify for the men’s 400m T47 final.

India’s final participant for the day will be Banothu Akira Nandan, who improved his PB by almost 3 seconds in heats and will be aiming for a Sub-50 timing in the finals.

On Day 4, India added to its medal tally with two gold and silver medals each, with three medals coming in men’s javelin throw events (F44 & F64).

Reigning World Champion Sumit Antil successfully defended his gold medal with a new championship record throw in the men’s javelin F64 final. His best attempt of 71.37m was levels above silver medallist Tomas Felipe Mina’s throw of 48.38m.

In the day’s first event, Yogesh Kathuniya settled for a third consecutive silver medal at the World Para Championships. Having finished as runner-up in both 2023 & 2024, Kathuniya had to again be satisfied with the same finish in the 2025 edition.

His best attempt of 42.49m saw him finish behind the legendary Claudiney Batista (45.67m) in the men’s discus throw F56 final.

Sandip Sanjay Sargar bagged India’s other gold medal on Day 4 of the competition, topping the podium with a new personal best of 62.82m in the men’s javelin throw F44 final. Compatriot Sandeep hit a season best 62.67m to claim silver.
