India will field a 73-member contingent in the event.

India is hosting the prestigious World Para Athletics Championships 2025 for the first time. The tournament will take place at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi from September 27 to October 5.

The popularity of para sports has been increasing tremendously in India, with many youngsters picking up the sport inspired by the country’s overwhelming performance at the 2024 Paris Paralympics.

India won a record 17 medals in the last edition of the World Championships, while the para-athletics contingent also clinched 17 of India’s 29 medals at the Paris Paralympics.

With the championships on home soil, the Indian contingent will be eyeing another record-breaking performance and hope to hit the 20-medal mark.
