World Pickleball League 2026: Dilli Dillwale beat Chennai Super Champs in finale to clinch title

Ly Hoang Nam of Chennai Super Champs won the Male Band of Honour for scoring the most points in the league.

Chennai Super Champs produced a valiant effort in an exhilarating grand finale of the World Pickleball League 2026 at the Jio World Garden tonight, though the result went narrowly 3-2 in Dilli Dillwale’s favour. 

Chennai Super Champs’ former Wimbledon champion Ly Hoang Nam got the Band of Honour (Male) for winning the most points in the League.

Rika Fujiwara started the clash in her typical, thumping fashion, clinching a 27-3 win over Alejandra Lopez. She was a class apart in this clash, setting the tone for the night, with a dynamic victory that got Chennai a critical advantage in the tie. 

The mixed doubles match was an interesting dilemma, where the Super Champs ended up falling short slightly. Max Manthou and Trang Huynh got Dilli back in the encounter with a nail-biting 11-10 victory over the duo of Ly Hoang Nam and Carlota Trevino. 

Nam bounced back with some serious vigour in men’s singles though. He defeated Vinh Hien Truong by 15-13, which gave Chennai a critical 2-1 advantage heading into the final couple of matches. 

However, the Dillwale got their act together in the concluding couple of matches, i.e. the women’s doubles and men’s doubles. 

The women’s doubles and men’s doubles fixtures were clinched by Dilli. Huynh and Mihae Kwon paired up to sneak 11-10 ahead over Trevino and Domenika Turkovic, but the final blow was laid by Manthou and Erik Lange in men’s doubles.

They secured a captivating victory by 14-6 against Tanner Tomassi and Do Minh Quan. Chennai tried shaking things up by introducing Nam in Pickle Play, but Dilli kept piling points up towards the end. 

Regardless, the grit and valour shown by the Chennai Super Champs throughout the season made them an absolute fan-favourite.

They were relentless in their pursuit of the trophy, hardly putting a foot wrong, and the indomitable spirit that they collectively imbibed reflected richly in how they were the team to beat for the entirety of the 2026 campaign.
