As the World Pickleball League (WPBL) returns for its second season with matches beginning January 27, Hyderabad Superstars have signalled their championship ambitions by signing one of the most accomplished professionals in the global game.
Louis Laville, who played a pivotal role in Pune United’s run to the final in Season 1, joins Hyderabad with the aim of taking the franchise beyond their semifinal finish last year.
Laville arrives with an established WPBL pedigree. Representing Pune United last season, the Englishman was instrumental in their journey to the summit clash, finishing as the highest-scoring male player in the league and winning eight of his nine matches.
That combination of consistency and match-winning impact is exactly what Hyderabad Superstars will look to harness as they set their sights firmly on the title.
“The WPBL is one of the most competitive and well-run leagues I have played in. The intensity and quality of players mean you are tested from the first point to the last.
I loved that environment last season and I am really excited to be part of it again, this time with Hyderabad,” Laville said ahead of Season 2.
Laville’s resume places him among the elite in professional pickleball. A six-time English National Champion and five-time European Champion across all disciplines, he has amassed 79 professional gold medals and over 125 podium finishes across 16 countries.
He was also the first European player to achieve a 6.0 doubles DUPR rating, underlining both his longevity and elite-level performance.
Over the past year, Laville has continued to expand his global footprint, competing extensively in Australia across Major League Pickleball and the PPA Australia circuit.

His recent successes include two PPA titles and a Major League Pickleball Queensland Slam victory with Bondi Pickleball Club, reinforcing his value as both a performer and a team-first professional.
“I have been fortunate to play pickleball professionally all over the world. That experience gives you perspective and calm when matches get tight. I pride myself on being a team player and bringing everything I have to every point,” he added.
Known for his fast hands at the net and sharp tactical awareness, Laville thrives in high-pressure, team-based environments. His ability to control rallies, close out points efficiently and lift teammates makes him a natural fit for the franchise format.
With Hyderabad Superstars having already tasted knockout-stage action in Season 1, the addition of Louis Laville reflects clear intent. Backed by experience, medals and a proven WPBL track record, Hyderabad will believe this season offers a genuine opportunity to convert promise into silverware.
