Mumbai Pickle Power will kick off the season against Dilli Dillwale on January 28.

Mumbai Pickle Power made a conscious call when they retained Brandon Lane and Glauka Carvajal Lane ahead of the World Pickleball League Season 2.

Last season, the franchise had surged into the playoffs with momentum and chemistry, until an untimely illness abruptly changed the script.

Brandon’s lung infection ruled him out at the business end, cutting short what had looked like a promising run, but now, one year on, the league’s most distinctive pairing is back, healthy, and intent on finishing what they started.

In the case of Brandon Lane, the journey to this moment has been anything but conventional. A former college tennis player from Melbourne Beach, Florida, he discovered pickleball in 2022 while working gruelling 60-70 hour weeks on tennis courts.

A year later, he went all in, literally. Travelling across the United States in a van with his wife, Glauka, the two chased tournaments, built a business, and turned professional sport into a shared life.

“When I found pickleball, I knew this could be something big. I told Glauka we should take it seriously, and it ended up changing everything for us. We get to compete, travel the world, and do it together,” Brandon said.

On court, Brandon brings a sense of controlled aggression. A big-drive specialist with fast hands, he thrives in energy-heavy environments and team situations.

His career highlights include winning mixed doubles gold alongside Susannah Barr, medalling across Europe and the US, and competing at the highest levels of APP pickleball, where earning podiums now means surviving brutal depth.

“I love team formats. I have played big matches in front of big crowds my whole life, and I enjoy being the guy taking the last few points,” he added.

Glauka’s journey also runs parallel, but with its own rather unique depth. Raised in Castellón, Spain, she began playing tennis at six, rose into the national top 100, and later earned a Division I scholarship in the United States.

That move, leaving home at 17, gave rise to her independence and a competitive edge. Pickleball reignited the fire she missed after college, and within months, she committed fully to the new-age sport.

“Pickleball gave me back that feeling of competing every day. Three years later, it’s become my life, beyond being a mere sport,” she said.

A two-time Spanish national champion, European champion with Team Spain, and silver medallist at the 2025 US Open, Glauka amalgamates consistency, athletic defence, and sharp net play.

Known for her two-handed backhand slide volley and relentless positivity, she has also built a global coaching business and works on sustainable court innovations off the court.

Together, Brandon and Glauka bring rhythm, trust, and lived chemistry, the kind that is not coached overnight, to the Mumbai Pickle Power. With last season’s playoff run still lingering as unfinished business, their return feels more like a reset to the campaign.

“This team believed in us even when things didn’t go to plan, and that is of utmost importance,” Brandon said.

“And now, we are ready to give everything back in terms of efforts and commitment, both on and off the court” Glauka added.
