Shinsuke Nakamura has been on hiatus from WWE for a long time!

Shinsuke Nakamura is one of the best technical wrestlers, who is currently signed with WWE. The Japanese Star has a great legacy in the pro wrestling industry for his mind-blowing works in Japanese promotions and WWE. Nakamura has been in WWE since 2016 and is a seven-time champion in the company.

Nakamura in 2023 redefined his career as one of the biggest heels in the company feuding against some of the top babyfaces in the company.

Nakamura last appeared on WWE TV back in April 2024, wrestling Sheamus, however he was not seen then. The Japanese star got drafted to SmackDown, however, haven’t appeared on the blue brand yet. At this stage, Nakamura is scheduled to wrestle for a Japanese promotion, representing WWE on his hiatus.

Shinsuke Nakamura to return to Pro Wrestling NOAH

Pro Wrestling NOAH on X/Twitter posted a video, where WWE Superstar Shinsuke Nakamura appeared on a video vignette and said that he will be returning to Nippon Budokan on New Year’s Day (January 01, 2025) for the “NOAH-The New Year event”, with a question who will be standing in front of him.

Shinsuke Nakamura said, “NOAH, it’s been a while. After that miraculous fight, WWE’s Shinsuke Nakamura will return to Nippon Budokan on New Year’s Day! Who will be standing in front of me? Let’s get excited!”

Following the video promo, NOAH has officially announced Nakamura’s opponent for the NOAH- The New Year. The Twitter post revealed that Nakamura will be facing Ulka Sasaki in a special singles match.

Based on the announcement, it seems like Nakamura will not be available for WWE shows until then. However, we need to wait and watch what the future holds for Nakamura in the Stamford-based company.

This is not the first time WWE wrestlers appeared on NOAH for a wrestling match. Earlier this year, AJ Styles and IYO SKY had their match for the Japanese promotions. This is the second consecutive year Nakamura under the WWE contract appeared on NOAH for the NOAH- New Year event. The King of Strong Style faced The Great Muta last year as a part of his retirement tour.
